Yep! In 2014, the International Dark Sky Association designated Oracle as an International Dark Sky Park because of the high quality viewpoints and very low light pollution. The park offers regular star parties through partnerships with local astronomy clubs who bring equipment for participants to view the night sky like never before. A Star Party is the perfect excuse to visit Oracle this spring! Show up early to take advantage of world-class birding before the sun goes down, then join the party!
After registering for a star party and getting to know the park trails, turn your attention to the historic Kannally Ranch House, a stunning example of Mediterranean Revival architecture that was built in the 1920s. Patagonia Lake…A Desert Oasis – Best Birding and Fishing in Southern Arizona
Patagonia Lake State Park is a true gem for anyone seeking a memorable birding or fishing experience this spring. Experienced or aspiring birdwatchers will be delighted to hear that this park is the best birding location in southern Arizona for a variety of exciting bird species. For those looking to stay overnight, there are campgrounds near the lake and cabins with an expansive view. Be sure to also check out the nearby trails at Sonoita Creek State Natural Area and bring your binoculars for all the birds and wildlife viewing. The park hosts free guided bird walks regularly to showcase the wide variety of species in the area.
Thanks to the Arizona Game and Fish Department, rainbow trout are stocked in the lake from October through March. In addition to fantastic fall through spring trout fishing, anglers can target other species like largemouth bass, bluegill, and two catfish species (channel and flathead catfish). Giant flathead catfish weighing up to nearly 60 pounds live in the depths of this Southern Arizona lake and are caught on occasion. Please keep smaller flatheads if you're so inclined and return the giant fish to the lake so they can breed and keep this renewable resource strong for future generations.

Kartchner Caverns – So Much More than Arizona’s Best Cave Experience

Kartchner is right at the base of one of southern Arizona’s notable Sky Island mountain ranges. A variety of scenic shared use trails lead deep into the Whetstone Mountains right from the park. Look for interesting species from the trail like Coues whitetail deer and coatimundi, or turn your attention to the large variety of birds during the spring migration as the breeders are settling in from April through June. and interesting plant life that call the area home.
Outdoor Tip: Some of the trails that lead into the Whetstone Mountains from the park enter Coronado National Forest, where trails aren’t marked well. Use a mapping app on your phone that provides “blue dot” location technology regardless of connectivity.

Unwind at Roper Lake – Arizona's Most Relaxing Adventure

History on a Hill at Jerome State Historic Park – Get to Know This Historic Mining Town!
Jerome State Historic Park is one of the most fascinating attractions in the Jerome area.
