Riordan Mansion State Historic Park

Riordan Mansion and art have gone hand in hand since the mansion was created in 1904; through artwork that decorates the interior and the structure of the house itself. This specialty tour examines the Riordans’ art collection and the Arts and Crafts Movement which inspired the design for the Riordans’ home.
This tour is recommended for ages twelve and older. Space is limited, advanced ticket purchase is required. Cost $22 per person. If you cannot stand for an hour or are unable to do stairs contact the park at 928-779-4395 to arrange for accommodations. Festival of Science Lecture: The Merriam Expedition to San Francisco Mountain — Life Zones and the Founding of Ecology
This special lecture for the Flagstaff Festival of Science is presented by historian Roy May. Roy will tell the story of the 1889 C. Hart Merriam expedition, its origin, and importance. Merriam developed the Life Zone concept as a means of describing areas with similar plant and animal communities, which helped shape the founding principles of ecology. Registration required.

The Mansion is festively decorated in turn-of-the-century style with wreaths, garlands, greenery and a towering fir tree trimmed with old-fashioned ornaments. Guided tours during this time include glimpses of folklore and traditions of Christmas, both past and present.
