Alamo OHV Ambassador Show Me Ride ( Tres Amigo & Mud Canyon )
Alamo Lake State Park
Tuesday, March 17, 2026 8:30 a.m.
Ride Summary:
This ride will take place on Saint Patrick’s Day, feel free to get festive with your green gear and outfits!
This ride is approximately 65 miles and an easy ride towards Tres Amigos Falls, a hidden gem in the desert, and then to Mud Canyon. Tres Amigos Falls is a short hike from the trail-head which has a unique entrance thru rock archway. If you go after a recent rain there is water cascading down about a 100-foot waterfall into a small pond area. Mud Canyon is a true natural wonder with varying shapes and forms created by the water cutting through the mud canyon walls. A short walk into the canyon there is a natural arch that is worth the easy hike.
Ride Details:
You will head out from Camping Area 'Group Use' onto the trail from the designated OHV Trailhead, head across towards Wayside on the graded road. After several miles on the graded road you will turn north heading towards the upper wash area and venture back to the entrance of Tres Amigos Falls. Explore the falls and uniqueness of the desert. Returning you will turn north again to Mud Canyon. When entering the canyon there is a short distance before parking becomes limited and the hiking begins. It's an easy hike/walk up the canyon where you will see various formations in the mud walls and at about a 1/4 mile up the canyon is a natural arch. It's a great picture spot. Depending on timing either stop is good for a lunch break. After leaving Mud Canyon you will pass Wayside and head back to Alamo Lake State Park.
ATTENTION RIDERS:
We will stage at Alamo Lake State Park Group Use Area. Don't forget to reserve your campsite if you're staying overnight! If you are not camping, your day-use fees will be waived.
