About Oracle State Park

Oracle State Park is a 4,000 acre wildlife refuge in the northern foothills of the Catalina Mountains. The park offers day-use picnic areas and over 15 miles of trails for use by hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. A section of the Arizona Trail crosses through the park. And it is a designated International Dark Sky Park.

Oracle State Park also serves as a Center for Environmental Education and provides programming for all ages. Interactive programs for school groups are offered by reservation. These programs are conducted along trails, so students learn about habitat and the interrelationships between plants, animals and people.

This 1930's Mediterranean-Revival Style ranch house is also a museum of period memorabilia and paintings. The grounds also make a beautiful backdrop for weddings!

Scorpion Hike at Oracle State Park

Saturday, June 6, 2026 7:15 - 9:15 p.m.

Join us for an exciting evening searching for and learning about scorpions! We'll discuss interesting information about scorpions, including their food sources and ecosystems, plus methods to naturally keep these little critters away from your home and other structures. As we hike the trail, we'll stop to watch the scorpions glow under our black lights! Registration required.

6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (exit gate closes at 4 p.m.)

Additional Arizona Trail and Stargazing access is available seven days a week at the American Avenue Trailhead parking lot. Please call 520-896-2425 to reserve entry.
