Construction at Roper Lake State Park will be taking place in the following campgrounds. See our camping page for details.

Please be prepared for construction-related traffic, increased noise levels, and limited access to the campground showers/restrooms during this time. Thank you for your patience as we work to make Roper Lake State Park an even better destination for campers!

Hacienda Campground: February 5 - June 27 (Hacienda shower building closed through end of May)
Cottonwood Campground: April 22 - June 27 (Cottonwood shower to close May 16)
Gila Campground: June 3 - October 24

The Roper Lake hot tub is permanently closed.

Swimming

Roper Lake State Park has a designated swimming area with a sandy beach on the west side of the day-use island.  It is a great place to cool off separate from lake boating and fishing. Before you head into the water, here are some tips to help keep you safe:

  • The water temperature can vary from temperate in the shallows to near-freezing in open water. Be aware of the water temperature before entering the water.
  • In all situations, swimmers should exercise caution. There is no lifeguard on duty, so swimming is at your own risk.
  • There is no swimming outside of the designated swimming area.
