Celebrate Earth Day at Arizona's State Parks
April 9, 2025
Arizona’s state parks will host special events and activities in celebration of Earth Day on April 22. Events range from guided nature walks, stargazing nights, live music performances, and educational programs that allow visitors to explore and appreciate the state’s natural beauty while learning about conservation.
“Earth Day is the perfect time to connect with the incredible landscapes that make Arizona unique,” said Bob Broscheid, executive director of Arizona State Parks and Trails. “Whether you’re hiking through a vibrant desert trail, participating in a cleanup event, or learning about local wildlife, there are so many ways to celebrate the planet's natural beauty and give back.”
Over Earth Day weekend, state parks across Arizona will offer activities that encourage visitors to appreciate nature and learn about conservation efforts. Astronomy events at Catalina and Homolovi state parks will demonstrate the importance of dark skies while Red Rock State Park’s annual Earth Day Celebration will feature guided hikes, interactive exhibits, and live wildlife presentations. Visitors can also enjoy live music along the trails at Oracle State Park, a wildlife refuge and center for environmental education; participate in educational and craft activities at Lyman Lake State Park; or join the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival at Dead Horse Ranch State Park to learn about local bird species, biodiversity, and habitat preservation.
These events provide opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature and deepen their understanding of environmental stewardship. Whether nature enthusiasts want to volunteer, explore, or simply reflect on the importance of conservation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
