We are thrilled to be hosting our next Artist in Residence, Jacob Buttry, a theatre artist, facilitator, and educator guided by compassion and connection. He has taken on roles including director, playwright, performer, intimacy director, dramaturg, and sound designer, but he focuses most on community-based theatre and imagining new works. Jacob has BAs in theatre and psychology from Texas Christian University (TCU), and an MFA in Theatre for Youth and Community from Arizona State University (ASU). He currently serves as adjunct theatre faculty at Estrella Mountain Community College, a freelance artist based in Phoenix, and a student engagement professional at Arizona State University. Jacob’s previous work includes creating The Mental Health Monologues to reduce stigma about mental illness, a musical theatre residency with First Place-Phoenix and ASU Design & Arts Corps, and a residency with nueBOX to develop For the Good of the Union set during the Bisbee Deportation. During this workshop, visitors will learn from Jacob and create a unique character based on the park's natural environment or wildlife.

This will be a great opportunity to learn from a talented theatre artist!
