The Moonlight Hike is among the most popular interpretive hikes at Red Rock State Park. Led by a naturalist, it gives hikers the rare opportunity to enjoy the sunset and moonrise from an overlook and return by the light of the moon, while also having the chance to learn about Sedona and its surrounding areas. Verde Valley and park history, as well as archaeology, geology, botany, and riparian wildlife information, is also offered by a knowledgeable guide. 

Registration is required for this program. Registration can be completed online (linked in the schedule below) or by phone at 877-MY-PARKS (877-697-2757). The program cost is $20 per attendee. See cancellation policy below. 

Two routes are available for this guided hike: a 2-mile and a 2.5-mile option. You may select which route you prefer during registration. The hikes take approximately 2-2.5 hours and are rated moderate to strenuous, including uphill walking and 300 feet of elevation gain.

You will be asked to acknowledge the following program requirements upon registration. Download these mandatory requirements.

• Registered participants MUST arrive at our entry station AT LEAST 25 minutes before the posted program start time in order to ensure participation
• This program has a minimum age of 12 years old
• No pets are allowed on the park (do not leave pets in vehicles)
• A flashlight is required (preferably not your cell phone)
• Closed-toed shoes are required
• Bring sufficient water (can be refilled at the Visitor Center)
• Only registered attendees are permitted on the park after regular hours (no pick up/drop off for this program; no parties in waiting for registered attendees)

Cancellation: While we do our best not to cancel hikes, the park may need to cancel the event due to inclement weather. In this case, your registration fees will be refunded. If you must cancel your registration, you can do so online by logging into AZStateParks.com/Reserve and managing your events in your profile. If canceled before 5 p.m. the day before the event, the registration fee will be refunded except for a $0.30 registration processing fee. If canceling after 5 p.m. the day before the event, your registration fee will be forfeited.
