Get Outdoors This Fourth of July Weekend!
June 22, 2017
PHOENIX – July 4th falls on a Tuesday this year, which is a great opportunity to extend your weekend and spend time in the amazing state parks across the state. Even if you only have a couple days, there are still holiday activities and fun ways to explore.
If you’re looking for scenic hideaway along the Colorado River for camping, swimming, fishing, and boating, check out River Island State Park. This west coast park has fun activities for the whole family, and there are still lots of camping spots available – whether you prefer a tent or RV.
At a higher elevation with more than 1,200 acres to explore, Lyman Lake State Park offers boating, water-skiing, fishing, hiking, and camping. Plus, this beautiful park has air-conditioned cabins available for those who are looking for a little more glamor in their camping experience.
As you celebrate our nation’s birthday, learn about some of the original residents of Arizona with a visit to Homolovi State Park. This park offers a peek into the past lives of the Hopi people through ruins, exhibits and a museum as well as camping, picnicking, and wildlife viewing for visitors.
For traditional Fourth of July activities, try camping in one of these state parks near towns with fireworks, parades and other holiday fun. Kartchner Caverns is also offering discounted cave tours for Arizona residents in celebration of being recognized as the “Best Arizona Attraction!”
