The park entrance gate opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 8:30 p.m. Campers who arrive after 8:30 p.m. need to call the park with a confirmation number to get the entrance gate code.

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area, opened and dedicated as a State Park on May 31, 1994. Meet at the park amphitheater on May 31, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for fun family activities. Enjoy drinks, snacks, and swag bags, courtesy of the City of Show Low, and exciting nature and history programming!
- Hear a fascinating talk from the Show Low Museum about the tiny town of Adair, now at the bottom of Fool Hollow Lake
- Meet Arizona Game and Fish Department representatives to learn about boating, fishing, and wildlife rules and regulations in Arizona
- Learn cultural history about the native people who inhabited this area and see petroglyphs with a US Forest Service archaeologist
- Get to know park volunteers and learn about opportunities to get involved in Arizona's outdoors
