This annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.
The event at the Winslow Homolovi Observatory will include night sky observations of the moon, Apollo 11 and 17 landing sites, cell cam pix thru 6” dob, nebulas, the Andromeda Galaxy and satellite galaxy, globular clusters, Saturn and Neptune. Dr. Sapers has worked on NASA Mars missions, including the Curiosity rover and the SHERLOC science team (one of the instruments on the Perseverance Rover). She investigates the limits of life in planetary analog environments including meteorite impact craters, methane seeps, and polar hyper saline springs.
The Homolovi State Park: Winslow Homolovi Observatory and the Little Colorado River Valley Astronomy Club will be setting up additional telescopes for a guided tour of the moon, planets and other celestial objects for visitors. Bring your sunglasses to see the moon's craters and lunar surface through the Dobsonian Telescopes.
