Bat Walk at Jerome State Historic Park

Jerome State Historic Park

Learn about the bats that fly about Jerome, emerging from the caves and old mine shafts of the Black Hills. These flying friends provide nocturnal pest control, pollination, and overall ecosystem benefits for the area. Registration is required at the link below (opens Wednesday, August 12, 2026); tickets are $8 per person for this program.

The Bat Walk will be led by Bat Rehab Specialist Brenda Vento. Brenda is a licensed AZGFD wildlife rehabilitator and an Arizona State Parks and Trails volunteer with extensive experience in bat handling. 

This outdoor educational event is ADA accessible and for ages 12+ only.

Meet on the entrance porch of the Douglas Mansion. 

Please bring your own red light flashlight/headlamp and be ready for no more than 1 mile of walking on smooth terrain.
