Living History Day at Fort Verde

Join the Fort Verde Interpretive Association and take a step back in time and see what life was like as soldier here at the Fort.
There will be no additional cost for this event; regular admission applies.
June 20th (10am-3pm): Living History Day- The Ordnance Department, More Than Just Ammunition: Join the Fort Verde Interpretive Association and tT\ake a step back in time and learn about what life was like as a soldier here in at the fort, and get an inside look at the Ordnance Department of the Army, the department known for procuring, manufacturing, and distributing weapons and ammunition, but tasks with so much more. See historical artifacts from weapons (with demonstrations of course) to uniforms, there’s no better way to learn about history than by talking with our living history volunteers. There will be no additional cost for this event, regular admission applies.
July 18th (10am-3pm): Living History Day- Search for the Well Dressed Soldier- Join the Fort Verde Interpretive Association as they go over the developments and innovations of the army uniforms on the western frontier. See historical artifacts from weapons (with demonstrations of course) to the food and games, there’s no better way to learn about history than by talking with our living history volunteers. There will be no additional cost for this event, regular admission applies.
August 15th (10am-3pm): Living History Day- The Commissary of Subsistence: A Bite to Eat: Join the Fort Verde Interpretive Association and deep drive into the The Commissary of Subsistence! Supplying food to the army was arguably one of the most important tasks, learn about what a meal would've looked like here, and how creative one had to be with some beans and flour. See historical artifacts from weapons (with demonstrations of course) to the food and games, there’s no better way to learn about history than by talking with our living history volunteers. There will be no additional cost for this event, regular admission applies.
September 19th (10am-3pm): Living History Day- Continually Wearing the Blue: Join the Fort Verde Interpretive Association and take a step back in time and see what an army life would have looked like here from 1871-1891, as well as what you would be wearing (hint- it was blue). See historical artifacts from weapons (with demonstrations of course) to the food and games, there’s no better way to learn about history than by talking with our living history volunteers. There will be no additional cost for this event, regular admission applies.
