Facility Information

Facilities Available at Rockin' River Ranch State Park

The first thing visitors will notice at Rockin’ River (besides the views) is there are few facilities here compared to other state parks they may have visited. In fact, except for restrooms, the Contact Station/Gift Shop is the only building at the park that is accessible to the public. Rockin’ River is a “get out there and experience it” kind of park. With over four miles of trails and a huge stretch of Verde River shoreline accessible in the park, there are plenty of outdoor recreation options available to keep you engaged with nature during your visit.

Drinking fountains are not available at Rockin' River Ranch so please bring plenty of water to the park when you visit. Water bottles will be for sale in the gift shop.

Visitor Center

The Rockin' River Ranch ranger station and Visitor Center is at the entrance of the park off Salt Mine Road. Park information, first aid assistance, restrooms, and a gift shop are available here. The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (last entry is at 4 p.m.).

Trails

For beautiful scenery, wildlife and bird watching, or access to the Verde River, take to any of the six trails at the park. See the Rockin' River Ranch Trails page for information on each trail. The trails at this park are "shared use" and available for hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding (please note there is not an equestrian staging area available at the park). Please be neighborly and follow standard trail etiquette during your trip.

Picnic Areas/Shelters

Lunch has never been more relaxing than from the picnic tables near the Verde River along the Shady Acres trail! Aptly named, this area provides the perfect area for respite from the sun, under the shade of the Cottonwood and Sycamore trees that grow along the river. You'll notice other picnic tables and benches throughout the park that offer slightly different views and experiences. Remember to care for the park by packing out all trash and food waste, including orange peels, apple cores, pistachio shells, and the like. These leftovers are unsightly and attract wildlife to the trail corridor.

Restrooms

Public restrooms are located in the following areas:

  • Directly south of the Contact Station on the south side of the Rockin' River Ranch Road
  • Southwest corner of the White Cliffs Trailhead
  • Main parking lot
