Slide Rock State Park Launches Photography Contest this September

September 1, 2026

Slide Rock State Park invites photographers of all skill levels to participate in a photo contest this September. The competition offers visitors a chance to share their memories and creative perspectives of the park while competing for prizes.

Participants can submit their entries online at AZStateParks.com/Slide-Rock from September 1-30, 2026. While photos may have been taken at any time, all entries must have been captured within the official boundaries of Slide Rock State Park. Each visitor is permitted to submit up to three photographs across three distinct categories: landscapes, family fun, and wildlife. Winners will be announced on October 10, 2026.

“We appreciate our visitors and enjoy helping them experience all that Slide Rock State Park has to offer. With our swimming area being closed for safety until October due to the Pocket Fire this summer, we wanted another way to celebrate the park with the community. We look forward to seeing visitors’ memorable moments in the submissions to this photo contest,” said Hank Vincent, northern regional manager at the agency.

Slide Rock State Park welcomes over 400,000 visitors annually, and its scenery is known for the red rock escarpments of Oak Creek Canyon. The wildlife category of the contest highlights the park’s biodiversity, which includes Coues whitetail deer, raccoons, and numerous avian species such as the pinyon jay, orioles, warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and more.

Winning contest photos will be featured on the Slide Rock State Park website. Additionally, first-place winners in each category will receive a day-use pass valid at any Arizona state park, while second-place winners will receive merchandise from the Slide Rock Market. Third-place recognition will also be awarded for each category. For the submission form and a complete list of contest terms and conditions, visit AZStateParks.com/Slide-Rock.
