Popular Arizona Family Campout Program Registration Now Open
July 15, 2025
PHOENIX – Arizona State Parks and Trails will open registration tomorrow, July 16, 2025, for its popular Arizona Family Campout program, designed to eliminate barriers that prevent families from experiencing the state's outdoor recreation opportunities.
The Arizona Family Campout program offers an overnight camping experience at various state parks and provides participants with all the necessary equipment needed, from tents to camp stoves, lanterns, camp chairs, and more. The camping experience includes a variety of outdoor recreation activities like fishing, archery, kayaking, geocaching, and more – with all equipment provided. Registration is available online at AZStateParks.com/Family.
"Arizona Family Campout is one of the ways our amazing team is working hard to connect people with Arizona's plentiful recreation opportunities," said Bob Broscheid, executive director of Arizona State Parks and Trails. "Families who participate say that they are life-changing weekends that really introduce them to the parks and the ways they can enjoy them, and our program is also award-winning."
The program also supports the next generation of outdoor recreation enthusiasts by including a stewardship project at each campout. Stewardship projects are family-friendly and range from activities like picking up litter to planting trees. Last year, the program was recognized for its commitment to environmental education with an Environmental Excellence award from Arizona Forward.
Locations for this season's campout include exclusive destinations that do not normally permit camping, including Tonto Natural Bridge State Park—the first campout of the season scheduled on September 6-7, 2025, as well as Slide Rock and Oracle state parks. This popular program fills quickly, so interested families are encouraged to sign up right away.
Registration costs $90 for a family of four, or $120 for the season's two-night campout offered at Roper Lake State Park in Safford on October 17-19, 2025. Registration for each additional family member is $5 per person. Children 6 years and older are welcome to attend, and accessible campouts are available for people with disabilities. Additional program details, reviews from previous participants, and registration information are available at AZStateParks.com/Family.
