PHOENIX – Lake Havasu State Park marks its 60th anniversary this year, and invites the public to celebrate on February 23, 2025 with music, a guided hike, and tours of the park - all free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Since its establishment in 1965, just 17 months after the founding of Lake Havasu City, the park has become Arizona's most-visited state park, welcoming nearly half a million visitors annually.

Early development, supported by federal and state partnerships, included campsites, picnic areas, and boat ramps. The park’s profile grew significantly with the 1971 relocation of the historic London Bridge to Lake Havasu City, attracting global attention and enhancing tourism.

Subsequent upgrades, funded by the State Lake Improvement Fund and Land and Water Conservation Fund, expanded boating, camping, and marina facilities, making the park a premier outdoor destination.

“Lake Havasu State Park is a testament to how outdoor recreation and conservation can go hand in hand, preserving this stretch along the Colorado River and connecting people with Arizona's natural beauty,” said Bob Broscheid, Executive Director of Arizona State Parks and Trails.

The park’s operations—including ranger staffing, clean facilities, and safe recreational areas—are supported by entry fees, camping fees, retail sales, and annual pass purchases. Arizona State Parks and Trails receives no general fund (taxpayer) dollars for the operations of its parks.

In addition to providing boat ramps, clean swimming beaches with shade ramadas, campgrounds, camping cabins, and a boat rentals concessionaire, the park hosts many large annual events, fishing tournaments, concerts, boat shows, and more. For those interested in learning about the environment, the park features the Arroyo-Camino Interpretive Garden, which showcases diverse plant and animal life. Additionally, Lake Havasu State Park partners with the Kids on the Colorado River program—a nonprofit that brings middle school students to the park to learn about natural resource stewardship and safe recreation in both the water and desert environments.

Join Lake Havasu State Park on February 23 to celebrate six decades of adventure and community. Event details and facility information are available at AZStateParks.com/Lake-Havasu.
