Cattail Cove State Park Holds Open House to
Celebrate New Upper Campground

February 18, 2026

PHOENIX – Cattail Cove State Park is celebrating the opening of a new campground for visitors with an open house on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Cattail Cove State Park, located in Lake Havasu City, will waive entrance fees  between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. so visitors can tour the campground and enjoy the park facilities. The new campground, referred to as Upper Cattail, is currently soft-launched for campers, with an expected opening date of Monday, March 2, 2026. The campground features 78 new campsites with water, sewer and 50 amp hookups. There are five accessible restroom/shower buildings and a plaza with greenspace and a new white sand beach. The campground offers a stunning view of the Colorado River and the Chemehuevi Mountains.

The development of the new campground included the installation of a water/wastewater treatment system and electric hook-ups, along with roadwork, landscaping, and facilities. "This project showcases the relentless commitment of the Arizona State Parks and Trails team to provide exceptional recreation opportunities for visitors across our beautiful state," said Dan Roddy, western regional manager at the agency. "Upper Cattail required significant work, but our team persisted until we got it done, and done right. We couldn't be prouder to open this facility where campers can create cherished lakeside memories for generations to come."

Starting March 2, reservations for campsites at Upper Cattail will be available at a rate of $50 per night. Campsites can be reserved online at AZStateParks.com/Cattail-Cove and by calling 877-697-2757 for up to a year in advance.

Cattail Cove State Park is located 15 miles south of Lake Havasu City on Highway 95.
