Arizona State Parks and Trails Announces Spring Registration for Arizona Family Campout Program

January 31, 2024

PHOENIX – Arizona State Parks and Trails is encouraging families to try camping for the first time! Registration will open tomorrow, February 1, for the award-winning Arizona Family Campout for events scheduled from March through June. This program offers families an unforgettable camping experience in the comfort of an Arizona state park with the support of park rangers and volunteers and the provision of all necessary equipment.

Campout fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged. The Arizona Family Campout program is perfect for families who want to spend more time in nature. Guides will teach you everything you need to know about camping, from setting up a tent to campfire cooking and fun outdoor activities like archery, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, geocaching, and more. Events also include a service project to teach stewardship and responsible recreation to the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

There are a limited number of events offered per season, and because the program is very popular and designed to teach new campers, families may register for just one campout per season and no more than three seasons total. The program costs just $90 for a family of four, and registration for each additional family member is $5 per individual. Children 6 years old and older may participate. See all event dates and register at AZStateParks.com/Family.

Equipment provided includes tents, camp chairs, sleeping mats, flashlights, and all the gear required for featured outdoor activities at the event. The activities vary depending on the park, participant ages, and weather conditions, but all guarantee a fantastic outdoor adventure. The Arizona Family Campout program is about sharing the wonder of camping in nature with everyone and invites people of all abilities to participate—accessible campout are available.

Participants leave the event more comfortable and prepared for incredible outdoor adventures, sharing reviews like, “We were so glad we came. This is probably the most amazing camping trip our family ever had. I am amazed at the equipment you had ready for the campers. That made life so much easier.” Learn more about what families can expect at a campout and what to pack, plus see all the amazing Arizona parks planned for campout this season at the Arizona State Parks and Trails website.
