Stargaze and Sing Along with Oracle State Park

June 6, 2023

PHOENIX - Oracle State Park, one of Arizona's premier International Dark Sky Parks, is inviting visitors to come out for an evening of stargazing and sing-along musical performances on June 17, 2023.

At 7 p.m. local talents Ric Volante and Vicky Smith will lead a group singalong on the scenic patio of the historic 1929 Kannally Ranch house. At 8 p.m., after sunset and as the night sky darkens, star watching will begin.

The Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association will guide star seekers to view celestial objects through the viewfinders of several impressive telescopes. The group anticipates attendees will be able to see planets, nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters in good weather.

Oracle State Park is an exceptional location for stargazing and was designated an International Dark Sky Park in 2014. This distinction is earned by a public land possessing an exceptional quality of starry nights and a nocturnal environment specifically protected for its scientific, natural, educational, cultural heritage, and public enjoyment.

Find facility information and get directions at azstateparks.com/oracle. The park entrance fee of $7 per vehicle (1-4 adults) applies but there will be no additional cost to enjoy this special event. For visitors traveling to Oracle who are interested in overnight accommodations, advance camping reservations are recommended at Catalina State Park, 23 miles south of Oracle State Park.
