Arizona's Newest State Park Gets Custom Brew
State Parks Partners with Historic Brewing Company to Launch Rockin' River Ranch Rye IPA
PHOENIX (July 31, 2025) – Arizona's newest state park will be featured on a custom, limited-release beer, the Rockin' River Ranch Rye IPA. Arizona State Parks and Trails and Flagstaff's Historic Brewing Company have teamed up for this third edition in a line of specialty brews celebrating Arizona's state parks.
To launch the beer, the agency and brewer will host a tasting event at Rockin' River Ranch State Park on Sept. 27, 2025 from noon to 4 p.m. Attendees 21 and older can enjoy two complimentary beer tastings, food, live music, raffle prizes, and a guided interpretive nature program in honor of Public Lands Day, also Sept. 27. Early bird tickets go on sale Aug. 1 through Labor Day (Sept. 1) for $25 per person and then increase to $30 per person. This is a family-friendly event; soda will be available for people under 21, and entry is free for children 6 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at HistoricBrewingCompany.com/AZ-State-Parks. Proceeds from the tasting event will benefit the nonprofit Friends of the Verde River.
The Rockin' River Ranch Rye IPA will boast an earthy, aromatic spice taste, balanced with low bitters and dry-hopped for a light and juicy profile with a 6.5% ABV. The beer will be distributed at Historic Brewing Company's locations in Flagstaff and Williams, and 10% of the sales will be donated to Arizona State Parks and Trails. Historic Brewing Company will also host Arizona State Parks and Trails for a Tap Talk event with the public on Sept. 11 at its Eastside Taproom in Flagstaff. Details about the partnership and its events are available at AZStateParks.com/Brew.
“Our team loves to partner with groups that are working on things we're passionate about—our outdoors and our state heritage,” said John Kennelly, co-founder of Kennelly Family Concepts Inc., which owns Historic Brewing Company. “We're excited to celebrate and support our state's newest park, Rockin' River Ranch. It's a spot I think a lot of people haven't learned about yet, and a beautiful natural place on the Verde River.”
Rockin' River Ranch State Park opened in February 2024. Michelle Thompson, deputy assistant director at Arizona State Parks and Trails, said of the collaboration between the agency and the Flagstaff brewer, “This partnership invites people to appreciate and support our state parks in a fun and different way. Rockin' River Ranch is a stunning state park just waiting to be discovered by more people. This collaboration is a great way to explore this hidden gem in the Verde Valley.”
The Rockin' River Ranch Rye IPA follows two previous specialty state park brews: the Kannally Ranch House Mexican Lager, inspired by the historic ranch house at Oracle State Park near Tucson, and the Slide Rock Blonde Coffee Stout, celebrating Slide Rock State Park.
