Post Pigeon
Arizona State Parks and Trails is proud to partner with nonprofit Post Pigeon EDU to bring our unique landscapes, wildlife, and expert Rangers directly to your students - virtually. This free, asynchronous distance learning program allows your students to connect with Arizona state parks, without ever leaving the classroom. Through this program, your students will learn about our parks, come up with their best questions, and receive personalized video “postcards” filmed on-site by our Rangers!
Whether you’re a science teacher exploring ecosystems, landforms, or adaptations, an elementary educator building literacy and inquiry skills, or simply looking for an engaging way to explore different careers in the outdoors, this flexible distance learning program is designed to adapt to your classroom’s needs. The program can be completed in as little as an hour, or expanded into a larger unit. See a sample of the curriculum here, and K-8 Arizona Early Career and Technical Education (eCTE) standards covered within the curriculum (preview standards alignment for Grades K-5 here and Grades 6-8 here).Sign up today!

How it Works
- Get Curious: After signing up, educators receive a free educational curriculum filled with grade-level specific lessons and activities. Students are introduced to public lands, local ecosystems, environmental stewardship, and even public lands careers!
- Get Connected: Educators guide students through inquiry-centered activities that help them develop thoughtful questions. These questions are sent to the Park through the Post Pigeon platform, and a Ranger will record a personalized video postcard responding directly to the class.
- Get Inspired: Classrooms receive a personalized video postcard from a Ranger responding directly to their class! Students are then encouraged to reflect on their state parks journey, team up to respond to challenges issued by the park, and explore how they can become environmental stewards in their own communities.
Career Discovery and Exploration: Beyond learning about the flora, fauna, history, and landscapes of our amazing parks, students will also be introduced to a variety of roles that help keep our parks running. In alignment with Arizona’s Early Career and Technical Education (eCTE) standards, this program introduces students to real-world career pathways in public land management, conservation, and outdoor recreation, helping the next generation of Arizonans envision their future in the workforce.
Note: After questions are submitted, classrooms can expect to receive their personalized video postcard within approximately 1-3 weeks.
No matter where your classroom is located, we want to bring the incredible landscapes, wildlife, and expertise of Arizona State Parks and Trails to your students, virtually!
