Many know the beloved romantic comedy Murphy's Romance, starring James Garner and Sally Field, was filmed in Florence, Arizona, but do you know why? Join historian Christine Reid for an entertaining look at the making of the film,  behind-the-scenes stories of the cast, and how Florence was chosen to be the town where true love blossomed.

About the Speaker

Christine Reid’s interest in Arizona’s diverse and rich western heritage developed and grew as a writer and researcher with the Pinal County Historical Museum and later as Community Scholar for the Anthem at Merrill Ranch continuing education program. Reid is committed to sharing the sometimes hidden or forgotten aspects of Arizona’s characters and history. Reid shares Arizona’s history in a relatable and engaging manner.

This event is part of a new series celebrating films, art, and music, and is a collaboration of the Town of Florence, Friends of the Viney Jones Library, and the Pinal County Historical Museum.
