Lewis & Clark Expedition Display
Fort Verde State Historic Park
January 16-21, 2025 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Visit the Fort for a very special exhibit on one of the most important events in American history—The Lewis and Clark Expedition.
This expedition, exploring the Louisiana Purchase (1803) was the dream of President Thomas Jefferson, and he trusted Meriwether Lewis and Willam Clark with the difficult task of mapping this vast area.
Volunteer Bob Erb will be here throughout the week to talk about this display and the very important expedition that discovered the west. There will be an extensive display (copies)
of accouterments, weapons, maps and other items used by Lewis and Clark.
In the summer of 1998 Bob had the unique opportunity to canoe down the Upper Missouri River with a group of other re-enactors following the route of Lewis and Clark. The entire trip followed the original Corps of Discovery route using the clothing, weapons, tools, food items, and gear at the same camps as documented in the journals of Lewis and Clark.
There will be no additional fees during the exhibit, regular admission applies.
