Camp Hosts and On-Site Park Support 

Have you ever dreamed of waking up surrounded by breathtaking scenery every morning? As a camp host or live on-site park support volunteer at Arizona State Parks, you'll have the opportunity to do just that. With over 30 parks throughout the state, you can choose to work in the desert, mountains, or along the river. Not only will you be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the parks, but you'll also have the chance to meet new people and learn new skills amid Arizona’s most beautiful places. Applications for on-site camp hosts and park support are now being accepted for the fall/winter 2023/2024 season. Live in your RV at an Arizona State Park campground in exchange for 20-24 hours per week of volunteer service.

Alamo Lake State Park

Wenden, AZ

Alamo Lake State Park is looking for temporary volunteers to contribute to a facility painting project for one week. Volunteers will get a free RV site with electric hook-ups and lake access.


Catalina State Park

Tucson, AZ

Catalina State Park is seeking volunteers to fill the following positions:

  • Visitor Services - Welcome guests, assist in the Park Store with retail sales, and provide general park information.
  • Maintenance Services - Maintain the park grounds in a variety of areas, such as painting, woodwork, electrical, plumbing, general housekeeping, and landscape maintenance. 

Jerome State Historic Park

Jerome, AZ

Jerome State Historic Park is seeking volunteers to fill the following positions:

  • Interpretive Services - Assist park staff in communicating information relating to Jerome State Historic Park, the Douglas family, mining, geology, and the town of Jerome.
  • Visitor Services - Welcome guests, assist in the Park Store with retail sales, and provide general park information.
  • Maintenance Services - Maintain the park grounds in a variety of areas, such as painting, woodwork, electrical, plumbing, general housekeeping and landscape maintenance.

Lost Dutchman State Park

Apache Junction, AZ

Lost Dutchman State Park is seeking volunteers to perform a variety of tasks related to virtual and potentially in-person interpretive programming. Duties will include conducting research on new virtual and in-person programming ideas, creating interactive social media content, and collaborating with other staff and volunteers to ensure specific program needs are met.


Patagonia Lake State Park/Sonoita Creek State Natural Area

Patagonia, AZ

Patagonia Lake State Park/Sonoita Creek State Natural Area is seeking local volunteers to perform independent trail maintenance at the park and natural area. Volunteers will work independently by maintaining the park's trails, trimming trees and foliage, and picking up litter.


Picacho Peak State Park

Eloy, AZ

Picacho Peak State Park is seeking local volunteers to fill the following positions:

  • Trail Maintenance - General trail maintenance and litter removal
  • Visitor Services - Welcome guests, assist in the Visitor Center with retail sales, and provide general park information.
  • Park Maintenance - Maintain the park grounds in a variety of areas, such as painting, woodworking, electrical, plumbing, general housekeeping, and landscape maintenance.
  • Interpretive Services - Assist park staff in communicating information relating to Picacho Peak, the environment, and participating in nature hikes.

Red Rock State Park

Sedona, AZ

Red Rock State Park is seeking local volunteers to fill the following positions:

  • School Program - Share your knowledge and love of nature with the next generation. Kindergarten through 8th grade students are offered field trips on subjects like geology, wildlife, archeology and insects. Visit this link to learn more about the program!
  • Entry Station Attendant - Greet park visitors at the park's first point of contact and collect park entry fees. Must be friendly, patient, and willing to answer basic visitor questions about the park and surrounding Sedona area. Volunteer shifts are typically 3.5 hours (afternoon shift) or 4 hours (morning shift) but shorter shifts on a weekly or every other week basis may be considered. Current high priority shifts are Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
  • Bird Walk Leader - Lead bi-weekly Bird Walks.  Bird Walks are on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.  Seeking volunteers who are comfortable identifying birds by sight and can lead one or two bird walks per month on a fixed schedule; however, flexible scheduling may be an option.

The following parks are not accepting volunteer applications at this time:

  • Rockin’ River Ranch State Park
  • San Rafael State Natural Area
  • Verde River Greenway State Natural Area
