Fire ban in effect: Propane grills and fire pits will still be allowed.
Hikers will not be allowed to begin the Hunter or Sunset Vista trails after 9 a.m. during heat advisories. Trails must be clear by 12 p.m.
We are currently working to improve the infrastructure at the park. Construction will be ongoing for the next year, with minimal impacts on visitor areas. Please stay clear of construction zones.
The park is experiencing a water shortage. No filling will be allowed at the park.
Geology Tour at Picacho Peak State Park

Monthly (October - March) 8 -10 a.m.
Join us for a geology experience at Picacho Peak State Park! In this two-hour program, you'll learn about the volcanic origins of the peak and surrounding parkland. Park Geologist Tom Buckley will give a short introduction at the Mesquite Ramada before taking the group on a 1-mile out-and-back moderate hill climb. No prior geology experience needed.
Parking is available at Harrington Loop. Due to limited availability, reservations are REQUIRED for this program. You can reserve a spot by calling the park at 520-466-3183 or by using the link below. There is no additional cost to attend this program but standard park entry fees apply, unless you hold a camping reservation during the event date or bring your annual Arizona State Parks pass. Event is weather permitting.
