Flagstaff Festival of Science: Evening Lecture - Astronaut Training in the Grand Canyon

Riordan Mansion State Historic Park

September 29, 2018   7:00 p.m.

Presented by: Kevin Schindler, Historian, Lowell Observatory

In the 1960s, astronauts traveled to the Grand Canyon to learn geological principles.  They hiked down the South Kaibab Trail, stayed overnight at Phantom Ranch, and then climbed back out via the Bright Angel Trail. This program will relive the adventures and lessons of these trips and include a series of then-and-now pictures of many of the stops along the way. This is a free event!
