Sunday Geology Hike

Red Rock State Park

March 11, 2018   1:00 p.m.

Sedona, located at the base of the Mogollon Rim, is actually situated on the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. This escarpment is over 200 miles long and ranges in elevation from 2,000 to 3,000 feet! Over millions of years, erosion has receded the rim by over four miles revealing through its creation, the picturesque features of Sedona. Join our knowledgeable volunteers as they venture out on our trails and discuss formation of the beautiful local red rocks and how their beauty continues to transform daily. This is an interpretive experience for both the beginner and experienced hiker, lasting between 2-2 ½ hours with an elevation gain of 250 feet. Please bring water and wear suitable footwear. This hike is included with the park entrance fee.
