New Members Sought for Arizona State Committee on Trails (ASCOT)

PHOENIX – Arizona State Parks and Trails is seeking public applications for membership to the Arizona State Committee on Trails (ASCOT).
Members of ASCOT advise the State Parks Board and staff on the planning, development, funding, maintenance, and promotion of non-motorized recreation in Arizona. In Arizona, the economic value of non-motorized trail use in by in-state residents is estimated at $8.3 billion, according to a 2020 report.
In addition, members of ASCOT review non-motorized Recreational Trails Program grant applications and provide funding recommendations to the State Parks Board.
Quarterly meetings are held either virtually or in person at the Arizona State Parks and Trails main office; members are expected to attend and commit time between meetings to help meet established goals. Members represent a variety of non-motorized recreation interests and geographical regions within Arizona. Each member is appointed to a three-year term.
