32nd Annual Butterfield Overland Stage Days
Local Area Featured Event
32nd Butterfield Overland Stage Days
Join in on this free event – a celebration of the Overland Mail route from St. Louis to San Francisco. Although the Butterfield Overland Stage ran for only two years, it was a turning point in American history connecting the east with the west.
This annual event not only focuses on history, but also provides plenty of entertainment and activities for the entire family. There is an old time parade, car show, art vendors, food vendors, and events focusing on the Pony Express and the Buffalo Soldiers.
An official U.S. Postal Service Pony Express mail run will take letters on horseback from Benson to Dragoon on Saturday. Music is under the ramada on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The car show, Pony Express, Buffalo Soldiers, vendors, art, and food are present on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
This event will be held at Lions Park in Benson, Arizona – approximately a 20-minute drive north of Kartchner Caverns State Park via AZ -90 N.
