Did you know that there are two types of geodes? Volcanic geodes are formed through volcanic activity and sedimentary geodes are formed through sedimentation. We’ll dig into all these details as you learn the craft of wool felting in creating your own colorful geode.

As summer nears, learn about ways to stay cool in the shade of trees through transpiration. Create a mini terrarium at our craft table and observe the process of transpiration as your tiny planting thrives in its own ecosystem.

Visit our Geology Room and observe the cross section of Jerome and it’s geological evolution. Then head over to our craft table and create your own geologic sand pour inspired by those dioramas.

Shadows of the Past
Uncover the darker side of Jerome’s mining history in a guided tour through the Douglas Mansion, circa 1916, just beyond Hogback Cemetery. Join us for a living history experience, as we walk down the dimly lit halls of history to be transported back in time to the wickedest town in the west.
