(Phoenix, Arizona - September 6, 2013) - Arizona State Parks will offer funding through competitive grants with monies from the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Fund and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). A workshop to assist potential grant applicants will be held at the Arizona State Parks Board Room, 1300 W. Washington St, Phoenix on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. Potential applicants are encouraged to attend but it is not required and reservations are not required. Applicants must complete an application package and the deadline for applications is Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 5 p.m.
Governmental entities and organizations, clubs, businesses, and any groups that can meet the terms of the grant program and enter into a project agreement are eligible to apply for OHV project grants. Governmental entities include cities, towns, counties, tribal governments, state and federal agencies and are defined as a governmental body with a responsibility to provide OHV recreation related opportunities to the public. An entity may need to present a signed resolution authorizing the application for an OHV Program project grant.
There is approximately $1 million in the OHV Recreation Fund and $700,000 in the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). Each project may receive up to $300,000 in grant funds without a match. Projects requesting more than the $300,000 must match the grants funds over $300,000 equally up to $500,000 in total grant funds.The types of projects eligible for funding:
