Scottsdale Artist Teaches Botanical Drawing Class at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

(Phoenix, AZ - July 2, 2009) - Scottsdale resident Cindy Leverton is an artist noted for her botanical garden portraits. On Sunday, July 12 she will display her talents to students during a class at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. The cost per student is $20 for Arboretum members and $27.50 for non-members. Students must pre-pay. To register, phone 520-689-2723. The three-hour workshop begins at 7:00am.

Learn Your Lizards Guided Walk

Arizona State Parks volunteer "Wild Man" Phil Rakoci and University of Arizona reptile researcher Phil Rosen are special guest tour leaders for this popular tour.

Trees of the Arboretum Walk
Sunday, July 19 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am
Special guest tour guide Terry Mikel will lead this relaxing walk through the forested areas of the Arboretum.

Plants of the Bible Guided Walk
Saturday, July 18 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am
Bible expert David Oberpriller will teach visitors about plants growing at the Arboretum that are mentioned in the Bible.

Margie Porter Exhibit Closes July 11
The watercolor exhibit of Mesa artist Margie Porter will close July 11 in the Arboretum Visitors Gallery. For the remainder of July, and through August, the Visitors Gallery will feature works of students from Gila Community College. Gila Community College has campuses in Globe, Payson and San Carlos, Arizona.
