(Phoenix, Arizona - January 14, 2009) - Bible Expert David Oberpriller will share his knowledge about botany, history and Scripture Saturday, January 17 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park during his popular Plants-of-the-Bible tour.
Oberpriller will point out plant species mentioned in the Bible that are growing at the Arboretum during this slow-paced and relaxing walk along trails that are wheelchair accessible. The tour is from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm.
Edible and Medicinal Desert Plants Guided Walk
Ethno-botanist Dave Morris guides this tour Sunday, January 25. Visitors will learn how desert native plants have fed, clothed and healed indigenous peoples for thousands of years. The tour is from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm, and explores the Curandero Trail, which is moderately steep and not wheelchair accessible.
Trees of the Arboretum New Guided Tour
Join guide Terry Mikel during this leisurely walk through the forested areas of the Arboretum and learn about native mesquite and hackberry trees, sycamores, cottonwoods and many more. The tour is from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm Sunday, January 18.
New Guided Tours Daily through January
Learn about the Arboretum and its 3,200 different plants on 323 acres, and the 230 bird species identified during the past 80 years during a new, special one-hour tour held every day in January beginning at 11:00 am.
All tours and guided walks are free with admission.
