(Phoenix, Arizona - December 2, 2008) - Paul Kinslow is truly unique.
His photography has been exhibited in numerous venues and featured in publications such as Better Homes and Gardens, Gourmet and Southwest Art. His paintings have been featured in galleries from Alaska to Florida. He has had one-man artist shows from Santa Fe to Aspen, from Denver to Dallas, and elsewhere.
For the first time in his life, the Scottsdale artist will exhibit both his paintings and photographs together. The Exhibit opens Sunday, December 7 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park.
"I have been painting for a very long time," said Kinslow. "I have no idea how many works I have completed - maybe thousands." He has an impressive range of paintings, believes "one's style is one's brand," and says "the opportunity to hang a cross-section of my work is rare and I appreciate it."
Kinslow is an Arizona State Parks volunteer who has shared his photography talent in the past by teaching camera skills workshops at the Arboretum.
"Now, just the far side of 70, I spend my time viewing this marvelous world through my camera and then painting it," said Kinslow. "Through the years, I have sought the ends of the earth. Here, below the sun-colored cliffs and along the paths of Boyce Thompson Arboretum, I have found some of those elusive ends."
The exhibit runs through December 31.
There are more than 800 Volunteers who actively participate in the State Parks' volunteer program each year. The volunteers support all 30 State Parks and Natural Areas. Volunteers provide support in a variety of areas, which include: visitor services, educational programs, maintenance work, special event support, public presentations and campground hosting.
Volunteers are also involved with special projects such as invasive plant species control, biological studies, historical research, educational planning, trail assessment, building and maintenance, training of other volunteers, and coordination of special work projects.
Volunteers provided 174,063 hours to Arizona State Parks last year. That roughly equals 84 full-time employees. The park system employs 349 full time staff members, thus the volunteer program provides 25% more staff time.
