(Phoenix, Arizona - November 7, 2008) - Oracle State Park offers a variety of events during winter of 2008 including guided hikes, workshops, music and more.
Sunday, November 16: GUIDED HIKE WITH LLAMAS at 9am, with ranger Cyn-d Turner and her eco-friendly pack llamas. Reservation required, space is limited. Call 896-2425 for more details. Free with park entrance fee of $6 per vehicle; annual passes available.
Saturday, November 22: KANNALLY REFLECTIONS: Join a special guided tour through the historic ranch house and corrals with Lucy Kannally's friend, Nancy Patten. Meet at 10am at the solarium office. Free with park entrance fee.
Sunday, November 30: GUIDED BIRD WALK, 8:00am with ranger naturalist, Jerry Orr. Meet at the ranch house. Free with park entrance fee. No reservation needed. Walk will last 2-2.5 hours, along park roads and trails. Bring your sturdy shoes.
Saturday, December 13: WORKSHOP: Make your own unique Holiday Wreath from natural plant materials gathered at the park. 1-4pm on the middle patio. Space is limted; call for reservations, (520) 896-2425. $12 includes the park entrance fee.
Sunday, March 29, 2009: Annual Music in the Park concert series begins, the last Sunday of the month through June.
ONGOING Weekends: HISTORIC KANNALLY RANCH HOUSE GUIDED TOURS, each Saturday, Sunday and holidays, beginning at 10am and again at 2pm; 45-minute duration. The four level Mediterranean revival style adobe ranch house was built from 1929-33 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guided tours are scheduled by reservation, call (520) 896-2425.
