Upcoming Events at Boyce Thompson Arboretum in September

(Phoenix, Arizona - September 9, 2008) - Events at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park in September include Plants of the Bible Guided Walk, Pomegranate Class and Nicole Royce Paintings Showcase.

Scholar Hosts Plants of the Bible Guided Walk At Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

Bible scholar and Mesa Resident David Oberpriller will host the Plants-of-the-Bible guided tour Saturday, September 20 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. Visitors can learn about botany, history, and Scripture as Oberpriller points out Arboretum plants mentioned in the Bible. The one-hour tour begins at 7:30am and is a slow-paced, relaxing walk along trails that are wheelchair accessible.

Noted Author Teaches Pomegranate Class At Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

Apache Junction Author Jean Groen (Foods of the Superstitions) will share her recipes and savor pomegranate foods and drinks during this new harvest season class Sunday, September 21 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. Pomegranates are commonly found as landscape plants in Arizona, and are in everyday products such as ice cream and shampoo. The class begins at 10:30am and lasts one hour.

Nicole Royce Paintings Showcased through September

The paintings of Nicole Royce are the featured exhibit in the Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park art and visitors' gallery through September. The October exhibit will feature Sharon Sieben of the Mesa Arts League.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is located three miles west of historic Superior on U.S. Highway 60 in the shadow of Picket Post Mountain. Hours are from 8:00am until 5:00pm every day except Christmas. Phone 520-689-2811 or go to http://ag.arizona.edu/bta for more information.
