New Fall and Winter Hours to Begin in September at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

(Phoenix, Arizona - August 21, 2008) - The new fall and winter schedule begins September 1 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. Public hours will be from 8:00am until 5:00pm every day except Christmas. The Arboretum is Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden encompassing 323 acres. There are 3,200 different desert plants within the Arboretum. More than 230 bird species have been documented through the years.

Prickly Pear Cactus Fruit Class
To be Held Labor Day Monday

Those who have sipped a prickly pear fruit margarita or nibbled candy made from cactus fruit know of the delicate flavor that can be harvested throughout Arizona. This special Labor Day class September 1 is being offered at just the right time when prickly pear fruit has grown and become ripe to perfection. Apache Junction author Jean Groen is the special guest who will teach how to harvest opuntia cactus fruits and extract the juice. The hour-long class begins at 10:30am and is free with admission.
