Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park Continues Live Music Summer Evening Series

(Phoenix, Arizona - August 1, 2008) - Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park visitors continue to have the opportunity to relax during the evening hours on selected Saturdays during the summer. The popular series continues August 23 with music by classical guitarist Jim Vandine and another special guest musician.

Visitors can bring a picnic basket and enjoy free live music for a reduced admission. Normal summer business hours are from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m., but hours will be extended until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 23. A special admission price of $5 for non-members will be offered, and children under the age of five will be admitted free. There is no charge for entertainment from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., and charcoal grills are available in the picnic area.

Elevation at the Arboretum is 1,000 feet higher than Arizona's major metropolitan areas and is appreciably cooler.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park is located on U.S. Highway 60 three miles west of historic Superior. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $3.00 ages 5-12. Summer hours are from 6am until 3pm every day. Phone 520-689-2723 or click www.btarboretum.org for more information.

The Gold Canyon artist and photographer will teach how to make your photographs "pop" during her "Seeing through Your Artist's Eye" workshop series, which includes both classroom and outdoor photo shoots. The workshop is for both amateur and advanced photographers who have a good understanding of their cameras. Class is limited to 10 participants. Enrollment is $30 for Arboretum members and $37.50 for non-members. Phone 520-689-2723 to enroll.

Learn Your Lizards Guided Walk
August 9 from 8:30am until 10:30am
Kids enjoy this popular tour while learning about our most common Sonoran Desert Reptiles. Casa Grande ecologist and reptile enthusiast "Wild Man" Phil Rakoci will conduct the walk.
