Volunteer Opportunities

A Volunteer helps with a food demonstration.

Volunteer opportunities are available at Tubac Presidio. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of 4 hour shifts between the hours of 9 am – 4 pm unless volunteering for a specific event or function. Generally, days and times are flexible; we will work with you to find what works for both the park and the volunteer. Training is available and for some positions is required. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator with any questions or concerns.

Interpretive guide
To interpret the parks expansive history, to include archaeological sites, historic structures and museum artifacts, through talks presentations and guided tours for the enjoyment and education of our park visitors.

Los Tubaqueños
A Spanish Colonial living history group dedicated to interpreting the daily lives of the inhabitants of the Presidio from 1752-1776. Volunteers dress and act the part utilizing skills such as weaving, cooking, planting crops and relaying information on the era to park visitors. This group is active from October through March on Sundays from 1- 4 pm.

Maintenance & Groundskeeping
Volunteers work with maintenance Rangers to maintain park grounds, vehicles and structures in a safe and efficient manner.

Outreach
Volunteers assist staff in developing and conducting outreach programs for offsite presentations to increase awareness of the Park and its history. These would include PowerPoint presentations, campfire talks and so forth.

Visitor Center
Volunteers welcome visitors to the park, provide information on Arizona State Parks and the surrounding area, collect fees, help with the gift shop and answer phones.
