Arlan Colton has been a resident of Arizona since 1993. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and has been an urban planning professional in practice in Arizona for 29 years.
He is the Co-Chair of the Governor's Growing Smarter Oversight Council which developed guiding principles for managing growth in Arizona. He is the Planning Director for Pima County and formerly worked as Director of the Arizona Preserve Initiative with the Arizona State Land Department. He has also served on the Urban Land Institute, Southern Arizona Section, Steering Committee, the Friends of Planning Board in support of the University of Arizona's Urban Planning Degree Program, and the Arizona Association of County Planning Directors.
Arlan received his B.S. in Public Management from the University of Arizona and his M.S. in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona.
