Obtain day use permit from Visitor Center for entry into Sonoita Creek. Permit is limited to 30 individuals per day.

14. Hikers turn off the Railroad Trail in the riparian area and head to the uplands on the Coal Mine Spring Trail. Visitors who take this route leave the cover of sycamore, cottonwood and mesquite trees and climb up into grasslands passing through seven distinct vegetation zones.
