7. The town of Jerome was named after a man who never came to Jerome; Eugene Jerome invested in mining claims and insisted the town be named after him. The Jerome’s were a wealthy New York family. The china displayed in this exhibit belonged to Eugene’s Uncle Leonard and his cousin Jennie (who was the mother of Winston Churchill).
