3. Experimental archaeology is an integral part of the Homol'ovi Research Project. Archaeologists interested in studying fire in masonry pueblo structures built a replica of a two room pueblo at the park Visitor Center. They found that the most likely cause of the prehistoric fires was the accidental burning of stored dried corn.
