Volunteer Opportunities

All Host Positions Have Been Filled for the 2016 Season.

Visitor Services Volunteers On Site Volunteers
Our hosts at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area are utilized in many areas. Volunteer applications are accepted year round. Decisions and notifications are made in January for upcoming year. Campground Host/Volunteers:
7 positions are available from April 15 to October 15. You must live on site. Water, Electric & sewer and laudry facilities are provided. Required to work 5 day a week, 20 hours per work week, per person.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining assigned restroom(s) 5 days a week (2 days off) 
  • Maintaining campsites,
  • Splitting firewood
  • General landscape maintenance, (which consists of mowing, “weed eating”, watering trees and flowers,  painting gates and curbs)
  • Assisting campers with questions or problems
  • Assisting other hosts and rangers as needed
  • Assist with sale of firewood and ice as needed
  • Greeting visitors
  • Operating cash register
  • Collecting camping fees 
  • Collecting day use fees 
  • Selling annual permits
  • Balancing revenue at end of shift
  • Taking reservations/collecting appropriate fees for day use ramadas
  • Informing visitors about rules and regulations
  • Answering phones
  • Answering questions
  • Communicating on two-way radios
  • Gift shop sales
  • Assisting with keeping office clean
