Our hosts at Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area are utilized in many areas. Volunteer applications are accepted year round. Decisions and notifications are made in January for upcoming year. Campground Host/Maintenance:
7 positions are available from May 1st to October 1st. You must live on site. Water, Electric & sewer are provided. Required to work 5 day a week, 20 hrs per work week per person.
Responsibilities include:
- maintaining assigned restroom(s) 5 days a week (2 days off)
- maintaining campsites,
- splitting firewood
- general landscape maintenance, (which consists of mowing, “weed eating”, watering trees and flowers, painting gates and curbs)
- assisting campers with questions or problems
- assisting other hosts and rangers as needed
- assist with sale of firewood and ice as needed

Volunteer Dave Elliot helps with landscaping at the recreation area.
Campground Host/Ranger Station
2 position are available from May 1st to October 1st. You are required to work 5 day per week, 20 hrs per work week. May live on site.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting visitors
- Operating cash register
- Collecting camping fees
- Collecting day use fees
- Selling annual permits
- Balancing revenue at end of shift
- Taking reservations/collecting appropriate fees for day use ramadas
- Informing visitors about rules and regulations
- Answering phones
- Answering questions
- Communicating on two-way radios
- Gift shop sales
- Assisting with keeping office clean
