Catalina Volunteer Opportunities

Campground Hosts, like Volunteer John Bennett, live on site at the park for part of the year and support park operations, including greeting campers and helping them find a site.
Catalina State Park offers volunteer opportunities in a variety of operational areas. The park is located in a beautiful natural area with all the nearby amenities and cultural attractions of a large southwestern city. Tucson is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the sun belt.
The park currently accepts applications for campground hosts, visitor services, and maintenance services positions listed below. To inquire about volunteer opportunities please contact the Volunteer Coordinator.
Campground Hosts
Campground hosts reside in the campgrounds for periods of three to six months and support the operation of the park. In addition to greeting campers and assisting them in finding their sites, hosts are the rangers’ eyes and ears. They monitor rules compliance and make visitors aware of the regulations. Hosts also perform routine custodial tasks in restroom and shower facilities. Hosts are provided a free campsite with water and electric hookups for their own RV.

Maintenance Volunteer Bill Hupp helps rangers keep up with weed control. Volunteers help with a variety of crucial tasks at this beautiful park north of Tuscon.
Visitor Services Volunteers
Visitor services volunteers work in the visitor center/ranger station, shoulder-to-shoulder with the ranger staff. They collect fees and issue park permits, provide information about the park and local vicinity, and transact gift shop sales.
Maintenance Volunteers
Maintenance services volunteers also work alongside rangers performing a variety of upkeep and development tasks. This might include trail building and maintenance, pruning, mowing, painting, building maintenance, and much more. Especially helpful, but not necessary, are experience in plumbing, electrical, wood-working, welding, and landscape maintenance.
Visitor services and maintenance services volunteers do not reside in the park. They are typically residents of the community who are proud of their local state park and want to work alongside rangers to provide the best possible outdoor recreation opportunities for their neighbors and visitors to our area.
