Boyce Thompson Arboretum Photo Gallery

5. Built from rhyolite quarried less than one mile away back in the early 1920s when the Arboretum was founded, the Smith Interpretive Center is the former Visitor Center. The lobby now has interpretive educational exhibits, and two attached greenhouses with collections of rare succulents and cacti from Central and South America. The building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
