This Limited Edition Coin commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the State of Arizona. Arizona became the 48th state February 14, 1912. The design shows the shape of the state, with the state flag inset. This medallion has been issued for the 2012 Centennial Celebration and is exclusively sold by the AZ State Parks Gift Shop & the State Capital Gift Shop!
Coins are serial numbered and contain 1 Troy Ounce (31.1 Grams) of .999 pure copper mined in Arizona. These tokens were authorized, designed and struck on vintage US Mint coining presses in Arizona by the Arizona Territorial Mint.
The edge contains the text “1 TO .999 – CU” (meaning 1 Troy Ounce of .999 pure copper) followed by the serial number of the token.
Coin description: Design of the State Seal: In the background shall be a range of mountains, with the sun rising behind the peaks thereof, and at the right side of the range of mountains there shall be a storage reservoir and a dam, below which in the middle distance are irrigated fields and orchards reaching into the foreground, at the right of which are cattle grazing. To the left in the middle distance on a mountainside is a quartz mill in front of which and in the foreground is a miner standing with pick and shovel. Above this devise shall be the motto: “Ditat Deus.” In a circular band surrounding the whole devise shall be inscribed: “Great Seal of the State of Arizona” with 1912 indicating the year of admission of the State into the Union.
